Bugbrooke
Darby and Joan Club
Hello
everyone. I’m writing this on January 1st 2007 and like many others
wonder why time seems to fly by so quickly. We all enjoyed the summer
weather even if sometimes it was a little too hot. Now we have a very
wet and windy winter. Are we to get a share of snow?
Nov
18th: Our Christmas bazaar. We had a good selection of stalls and thank
everyone who gave items, came to help and those who did come to support
us on the day. These fundraisers keep our club running.
Nov
22nd: We were saddened today to hear that member Mrs Margaret
“Maggie” Francis had passed away in hospital. She always attended
meetings and events when her health permitted. The club’s condolences
are sent to her sons and family.
Dec
13th: We finished our year’s meetings today with the usual Christmas
tea prepared and served by committee, and, as always, done in style. The
tea ladies joined us as a thank you for the year’s teas they gave us,
not forgetting Mrs Sue Pace who played piano for carols.
Our
leader Mrs Rachael Steel and treasurer Mrs Jill Phillipson are retiring
at the end of 2007. Anyone with any interest in joining our club please
ring Mrs Steel on 01604 830868.

Tree
of Eternal Light Service 2006
Many
thanks to all who helped with the Tree of Light Service which provided
an opportunity for an hour’s quiet reflection and remembrance of our
loved ones in the hectic run-up to Christmas. Donations amounted to £648.50
which has been divided equally and forwarded to Tommy’s the baby
charity, The Alzheimer’s Society and Bugbrooke Church.
